Girl Talk
A Woman’s Voice – Girl Talk zine.

Gender discrimination is illegal in the UK and is covered by the Equality Act 2010.
“To the woman who is always unheard,
Whose ideas are constantly lost in the loud, natured mess of voices in a crowd.
To the woman who is afraid,
To those who fear that their voice will betray them rather than save them.
To the woman who is silenced by those who stopped you from trying to speak because the majority ruled that your voice doesn't belong to you unless you're saying exactly what they want to hear.
I beg you not to allow yourself to be silenced” (Hanson, September 2022)

Gender discrimination and societal Expectations. A 2025 reflection.

Despite the legal protections established by the Equality Act 2010, gender discrimination remains a persistent issue in the UK. I have my own experiences of gender discrimination and sexual harassment, so this topic is something I am hugely passionate about. It's not just the UK facing issues; these problems are resurfacing globally. Instead of making progress, it often feels like we are moving backwards in our efforts to achieve equality and safety for all. Women continue to face significant inequalities and danger in the workplace, including a pay gap that averages 15% compared to their male counterparts, along with underrepresentation in leadership roles, sexual harassment and gender based violence.
